A kitchen gadget built for rinsing and drying greens has been marked down to under $20 at Amazon, just as NBC Selected reports that fresh produce is under extra scrutiny this summer.
According to NBC Selected, Farberware’s Easy-to-Use Pro Pump Spinner with Bowl is selling on Amazon for $17.99, down from $26.99. That is a 33% discount on the 6.6-quart salad spinner, which the shopping site says can be used to wash, dry and serve produce.
The deal arrives as NBC News has reported that cases of cyclosporiasis, a foodborne illness caused by the cyclospora parasite, have been rising since early July 2026. NBC Selected says health officials have linked the illness to fecal contamination on produce, including strawberries, vegetables and leafy greens such as lettuce.
Cyclospora can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms, according to NBC Selected. The site says careful hand-washing of fresh fruits and vegetables is important for reducing the risk of infection.
What the spinner does
The Farberware spinner includes a colander that sits inside a plastic bowl designed to collect excess water, according to product details cited by NBC Selected. The tool is made from BPA-free plastic and has a non-slip base.
NBC Selected says the spinner can handle lettuce, strawberries, blueberries and other fresh produce. It also works as a colander, so shoppers can use it to drain food even when they are not spinning it dry.
The gadget weighs 1.4 pounds, according to NBC Selected. One catch: it is not dishwasher safe, though NBC Selected says many Amazon reviewers describe it as easy to clean by hand.
Prices across retailers
Amazon has the lowest listed price in NBC Selected’s comparison. The same Farberware spinner is also listed at The Container Store for $20.24, down from $26.99, a 25% discount. Walmart lists it at $26.95, down from $32, a 16% discount.

Amazon shows 20,043 reviews for the spinner, according to NBC Selected. The shopping site says the product has a near-perfect average rating from shoppers.
Reviewers highlighted by NBC Selected said they liked that the spinner was easy to use and required little effort to clean. One Amazon shopper cited by the site said the product felt durable and did not break easily after falls.
NBC Selected, which says it independently chooses products and may earn a commission when readers buy through its links, framed the deal as useful with or without the current illness concerns. The site says washing produce helps remove dirt and debris before eating.
