Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is pressing for McConnell health transparency, saying people in the state are asking for “transparency and honesty” about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s condition, according to NBC News.
Beshear made the remarks to reporters in a video published by NBC News Channel on July 28, 2026. He said public uncertainty has been fed by online chatter and argued that McConnell could put the issue to rest himself.
“We have seen rampant speculation across social media and elsewhere, it could all be fully avoided, and it's all within Senator McConnell's power,” Beshear said, according to NBC News.

“But because he won't do that, the fact is that we don't know, and that means that the Senate, if he won't provide more evidence, needs to step in and demand it,” Beshear said, according to NBC News.
