Fruit fly season has a cheaper counterattack: NBC Select reported that Terro’s Fruit Fly Trap four-pack is selling for $10.98 on Amazon, down from $15.99.
That is a 31% discount, according to NBC Select, and it puts the small traps at less than $4 each. The same four-count pack was listed at $13.94 at Home Depot in the deal roundup.
The product is aimed at a familiar kitchen headache. NBC Select described the Terro trap as a compact, apple-shaped device that uses a liquid bait to attract fruit flies, then keeps them inside so they cannot get back out.
The deal drew extra attention because NBC Select reported that more than 30,000 Amazon shoppers bought the traps in the past month.
What comes in the pack
The set includes four traps, giving shoppers the option to place them in several areas where fruit flies tend to gather. NBC Select named kitchen counters, fruit bowls, sinks and trash cans as possible spots.
Each trap has a see-through design, which NBC Select said lets users check how it is working. The traps are also small enough to sit on a counter without taking up much room, according to the report.
NBC Select said the traps do not need to be plugged in and do not require spraying or ongoing maintenance.
Why shoppers may be looking now
Fruit flies can be stubborn once they appear in a kitchen, especially around produce and waste areas. NBC Select framed the product as a way to target the insects directly rather than relying on repeated cleaning or swatting.
The Terro traps use liquid bait rather than an electric plug-in setup. NBC Select said the design is meant to draw flies into the trap and prevent them from escaping or continuing to breed.
