U.S. finds remains after Jordan attack as troop dies in Iraq

The U.S. military has found unidentified human remains in Jordan while searching for an American service member who was reported missing after an Iranian missile and drone strike, U.S. Central Command said Sunday.
CENTCOM said the remains were recovered at the location of Friday’s attack in Jordan. Officials said an examination is being conducted to determine whether the remains are those of the missing service member.
The discovery came after CENTCOM said two U.S. service members had died and a third was missing following Iran’s July 17 attack on U.S. and partner forces in Jordan.
The military also reported a separate death in Iraq. CENTCOM said a U.S. service member died Saturday in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone.
A second service member was slightly injured in that Iraq incident and remains under medical care, CENTCOM said.
