A runaway pig gave Florida deputies a very squealy roadside assignment in Clay County, where authorities said the animal got loose from a trailer near US-17 and State Road 220.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office shared video of the odd call on social media, according to UPI. The clip included audio from the pig’s owner, who reported that the animal had broken out of his trailer near the intersection.

The sheriff’s office video shows deputies going after the large pig and working to get it under control. The animal resisted loudly while being secured with a rope leash, according to the footage described by UPI.

The job was not a one-person grab-and-go. UPI reported that it ultimately took four people to force the pig up a ramp and into a trailer.

The brief video, posted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, turned a routine escape call into a barnyard chase with uniforms, rope and plenty of noise. The sheriff’s office did not report additional details in the UPI account about how long the pig had been loose or whether traffic was affected.

The escape happened in Clay County, a northeast Florida county where US-17 and State Road 220 meet in the area identified by the owner in the call audio. The sheriff’s office footage placed deputies at the center of the wrangle after the owner sought help getting the animal back under control.

UPI reported the story on July 14 as part of its Odd News coverage. The account credited the Clay County Sheriff’s Office video as showing the chase, the capture and the effort to load the pig back into a trailer.

No injuries or citations were mentioned in the UPI report. The only confirmed outcome: the pig’s roadside adventure ended with several people muscling it up a ramp and back into confinement.
