Lil Baby has teamed with Pharrell Williams for the first time on “Dead Fresh,” a new single that gives the rapper a beat straight from one of music and fashion’s busiest power players.
Rolling Stone reported that Pharrell produced the track, which first surfaced in June during Louis Vuitton’s Menswear Spring-Summer 2027 show in Paris. The placement was no random runway drop: Williams is Louis Vuitton’s menswear creative director and has used the brand’s shows to preview new music.
On the song, Lil Baby nods directly to the producer behind the boards. In one quoted lyric reported by Rolling Stone, he raps, “Hold up, hold up, this beat came from Pharrell.”
The track also finds him pairing luxury details with reflections on how far he has come, including lines about putting his nanny in Chanel and his grandmother in a Maybach, according to Rolling Stone.
A runway debut before the official rollout
“Dead Fresh” made its public debut at the Louis Vuitton menswear presentation held at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. Rolling Stone reported that the show featured several new Williams-linked collaborations, including music involving Lil Baby, Quavo and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
That Paris preview put the song in front of a fashion crowd before its broader release. The connection fits Pharrell’s current overlap of music and luxury, with his Louis Vuitton platform becoming a stage for unreleased tracks as well as clothes.
A full music video for “Dead Fresh” is scheduled to arrive Monday, according to Rolling Stone. The clip was directed by Kid Art.
Lil Baby has already shared a trailer for the video. Rolling Stone reported that the teaser includes golf, high-end cars and fashion, keeping the visual rollout in the same glossy lane as the song’s luxury references.
What comes after ‘WHAM’
The single follows Lil Baby’s fourth studio album, “WHAM,” which Rolling Stone reported was released last year. The album included guest appearances from Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Future and Young Thug.
Rolling Stone also noted that “WHAM” marked Lil Baby’s first studio album since 2022’s “It’s Only Me.” The outlet reported that 21 Savage used his appearance on the project to take a subliminal shot at Kendrick Lamar.
A press release cited by Rolling Stone says “Dead Fresh” “sets the stage for a grander chapter” in Lil Baby’s career. No further project details were included in the report.
For now, the headline is the pairing itself: Lil Baby and Pharrell, together on record for the first time, after a rollout that started on a Louis Vuitton runway and continues with a Kid Art-directed video.
