McAlister's Deli is turning July 16 into a free-tea run, with participating locations offering customers a Big Tea at no cost and no purchase required.

The chain’s Free Tea Day applies for the full day at participating restaurants, according to the promotion details. Customers can walk into a location, order online, or use the McAlister’s Deli app to claim the offer.

The giveaway is limited to Big Tea drinks. Eligible options include sweet tea, unsweetened tea, tea mixed with lemonade, flavored teas and one flavor shot per tea.

How the free tea deal works

For customers visiting a participating McAlister’s Deli in person, the offer is good for one free tea per customer. App and online orders are also included, with a limit of four free teas.

No purchase is needed to get the drink, according to the promotion details. That means customers do not have to add a sandwich, salad or other menu item to check out with the free tea.

  • Date: July 16
  • Where: Participating McAlister’s Deli locations
  • Offer: One free Big Tea in person per customer
  • Online and app limit: Up to four free teas
  • Purchase required: No

The timing gives customers a cold option during a stretch of summer heat, with parts of the country also dealing with poor air quality. The deal also arrives as the World Cup is down to its final two matches.

A promotion that dates back to 2009

McAlister’s Free Tea Day began in 2009, according to the promotion details. The company launched it with the aim of bringing people together over its tea.

This year’s event keeps the offer focused on the chain’s Big Tea lineup rather than the full drink menu. Customers looking to customize can choose one flavor shot per tea as part of the deal.

The offer is available only at participating McAlister’s Deli locations, so customers may want to check their nearby restaurant or the app before heading out.

Anyone mapping out a full week of summer treats can also keep an eye on Sunday, July 19, when National Ice Cream Day arrives.
