Raye is heading into Benny Safdie’s Lizard Music. Rolling Stone reports that the singer has joined the film’s voice cast and will create original music for the adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater’s 1976 novel.

The report does not identify the character Raye will voice, or specify whether her music work will involve songs, a score or both.

What is Raye’s role in the ‘Lizard Music’ film?

Raye is reported to have two jobs on the project: voice acting and making original music. The film will combine live action and CGI, according to Rolling Stone.

Safdie wrote the screenplay for Lizard Music, which is based on Pinkwater’s novel. Its reported story follows a boy named Leber after he discovers a late-night broadcast featuring lizards playing unusual music. He then joins an eccentric older man called the Chicken Man and Claudia, an elderly chicken, in a search for answers.

The film is currently scheduled to reach theaters on Dec. 25, 2027, Rolling Stone reported. That is a planned release date, rather than a guarantee that the rollout will remain unchanged.

Who else is attached to ‘Lizard Music’?

Dwayne Johnson is among the performers and producers attached to the film. Rolling Stone also listed Theo Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, David Krumholtz and Andrew Dice Clay as part of the project.

Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt are producing for UA, while Safdie is producing through Out for the Count Productions. Johnson is producing through Seven Bucks Productions, with David Koplan attached through Magnetic Fields Entertainment, according to the report.

The movie adds another screen project to Raye’s reported acting slate. Rolling Stone said in May that she had been cast in Yann Demange’s London-set crime feature Lineage, described as her first scripted dramatic role. She previously appeared as herself in an episode of Netflix’s Black Rabbit.
