Anthony Edwards has been ordered to pay $3,222 a month in child support for his 1-year-old daughter with Ayesha Howard, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The ruling came from a Georgia judge, TMZ reported, ending a venue fight that had put Georgia and California at the center of the case. Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard, had asked for the matter to be handled in Georgia, while Howard had filed a child support case in California.
According to TMZ, the court documents say Howard’s monthly income was listed as zero. The judge also noted that Howard did not appear at trial and did not provide evidence to support her claims, the outlet reported.
The order lands against the backdrop of Edwards’ NBA payday. TMZ reported that Edwards signed a five-year contract with the Timberwolves in 2023 worth more than $200 million.
Payments were already being made
Edwards had already been paying support before the judge’s latest order, according to the court documents cited by TMZ.
The documents say those payments began in January 2025 with an initial $20,000 payment, followed by $5,000 per month through the trial date. In total, Edwards has paid $110,000 in child support so far, TMZ reported.
The newly ordered monthly amount is lower than what Edwards had been paying in the run-up to trial, based on the payment history described in the documents.
California filing did not win out
The legal fight included a dispute over where the child support case should be decided. TMZ previously reported that Howard filed in California, while Edwards filed in Georgia.
Edwards claimed Howard did not have ties to California, despite her position that she did, according to TMZ. He also claimed she brought the case in Los Angeles in an effort to secure a higher child support award, the outlet reported.
The court ultimately agreed that Georgia would be the place where child support would be set, according to TMZ.
The case involves Edwards and Howard’s 1-year-old daughter. TMZ identified Howard by her Instagram handle in related coverage, but the court ruling described by the outlet centers on the monthly support order and the payments Edwards has already made.
No response from Howard to the Georgia ruling was included in TMZ’s report. Edwards’ response beyond the claims he made in court filings was not described by the outlet.
