Bear Brown wins temporary order after claims tied to Matt search
The “Alaskan Bush People” star says a man connected to the search for his late brother has targeted his family online.

Bear Brown has been granted a temporary civil protection order against a man he says began targeting him after the search for his brother Matt Brown, Us Weekly reported.
The “Alaskan Bush People” star alleges the man was involved with the private search and rescue group that found Matt’s body after Matt died by suicide in May, according to the report. Bear says he only knows the man through that search.
In his filing, Bear claims the man has described himself in vague terms as having been very close to Matt. Bear disputes that characterization and says he does not know him outside of the role he allegedly played in the search effort.
Us Weekly reported that Bear accused the man of repeatedly going after him online and on social media after the hunt for Matt. The allegations have not been tested in a full hearing.
Bear says online posts made him fear for his safety
Bear’s filing claims the man posted videos on social media that became “increasingly unhinged” and were “spewing hate, and vitriol against my family,” according to Us Weekly.
One alleged post from July 1 was specifically cited by Bear, who said it made him “afraid for my life,” the outlet reported.
The temporary order is in place while Bear seeks a full protection order. A hearing is scheduled for later this month, according to the report.
No response from the man was included in Us Weekly’s account. The man has not been named in the reporting cited by Bear’s filing.
Brown family members named in request
Bear is asking the court for protection that reaches beyond himself. According to Us Weekly, he wants additional orders covering several members of his family and his ex-wife.

The request comes during a painful stretch for the Brown family following Matt’s death. Matt, a former “Alaskan Bush People” cast member, died by suicide in May, according to prior reporting cited in connection with the case.
Matt’s body was found by a private search party, according to earlier reports. Bear’s new court action centers on a man he says was connected to that search and later directed hostile online attention toward him and his relatives.
For now, the court has granted Bear temporary protection. The next step is the hearing later this month, where the court will consider whether to issue a broader order.
