Bob's Burgers holiday short heads to Hulu with a snowy Christmas twist

A new Bob’s Burgers holiday short is on the way, sending the Belcher kids into a Christmas snowstorm for an exclusive streaming installment announced at San Diego Comic-Con.
Creator and executive producer Loren Bouchard revealed the short, titled On the Fort Day of Christmas, during the show’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday. It is set to premiere during the 2026 holiday season on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally in most markets.
The setup is pure Belcher-family business: a record-setting Christmas snowstorm inspires Tina, Gene and Louise to build a record-setting Christmas snow fort, according to the announcement.
When does the Bob's Burgers holiday short stream?
The short is scheduled for the 2026 holiday season. A specific release date was not announced at the Comic-Con panel.
The streaming plan makes Bob’s Burgers the latest long-running 20th Television Animation comedy connected to Fox to get an original installment made for Disney’s streaming platforms. Deadline reported that The Simpsons and Family Guy had already been releasing exclusive episodes for Disney+ and Hulu, where their libraries stream.
That shift began after Fox started ordering shorter seasons for the shows a couple of years ago, according to Deadline. 20th Television Animation kept the overall episode output relatively steady and placed the extra installments on streaming services.
Bob’s Burgers, the third of those established Fox animated comedies from 20th Television Animation, had not previously released original streaming specials. On the Fort Day of Christmas changes that, with the restaurant clan stepping into the streaming-only holiday lane.
What is Bob's Burgers about?
Bob’s Burgers follows the Belcher family as they run a hamburger restaurant in a seaside New Jersey community. The main family includes Bob, voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, Linda, voiced by John Roberts, and their children Tina, Gene and Louise, voiced by Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal.
The series is built around the Belchers’ day-to-day restaurant life and their run-ins with the colorful people around them. The holiday short keeps the focus on the kids, who see a snowed-in Christmas as a chance to go big on fort-building.
Bouchard appeared at the Comic-Con panel with cast members Benjamin, Roberts, Schaal and Mirman, along with supervising director Bernard Derriman.
The broader streaming push has already included several The Simpsons exclusives for Disney+. Deadline reported that the show announced a two-episode installment, Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition, for June 17, followed by full-length episodes Simpsley on July 3 and Yellow Mirror, a riff on Black Mirror, on Aug. 26. Family Guy has also made Halloween and Christmas specials over the past two years.
The next regular season of Bob’s Burgers, Season 17, is slated to debut on Fox in midseason 2027. Episodes will stream in the U.S. on Hulu and on Hulu through Disney+ for bundle subscribers.
Bouchard executive produces the series with Nora Smith, Dan Fybel, Rich Rinaldi, Jon Schroeder, Steven Davis, Scott Jacobson, Holly Schlesinger, Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Janelle Momary-Neely. Jim Dauterive co-developed the show.
