A 54-year-old Walt Disney World guest died after suffering a cardiac emergency while riding It's a Small World at Magic Kingdom, according to a Florida theme park injury report cited by TMZ.
The incident happened on April 24, but became public with the latest update from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, which tracks certain injuries and medical events at theme parks. The report said the man had a pre-existing condition and was taken to a local hospital after the emergency.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, TMZ reported.
Disney World did not immediately respond to TMZ's request for comment, according to the outlet.
State report put the death on the record
The Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services report identified the attraction as It's a Small World, the long-running boat ride known for its singing dolls and gentle pace.
The report did not say that the ride caused the medical emergency. It described the event as a cardiac emergency involving a guest with a pre-existing condition, followed by transport to a hospital, where the guest died.
Theme park injury reports in Florida are periodic disclosures, which can mean serious incidents do not become widely known until weeks or months after they happen.
Other recent Disney incidents
TMZ reported that four people died at Disney World during a one-month period late last year. The outlet said those deaths did not appear to involve medical emergencies that happened in the middle of attractions.
The new Disney World report also follows a separate death at Disneyland in October. TMZ previously reported that a guest died after suffering a possible heart attack while riding Haunted Mansion.
Video from that Disneyland incident showed the guest being moved from the attraction on a gurney, according to TMZ. The guest later died at a local hospital.
In another recent Disneyland matter, TMZ reported multiple cases of young guests getting out of a log on Tiana's Bayou Adventure. One case involved a 13-year-old who fell down the ride's 50-foot waterfall, according to the outlet.
That boy was taken to a hospital, but TMZ reported he was not injured.
The April death at Disney World remains listed as a medical emergency in the Florida report. No additional details about the man were released in the reporting.
