Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ joins Hot 100 royalty
The country hit logs a 14th week at No. 1, matching major runs by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, according to Variety.

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has planted its boots at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a 14th week, putting the country single in rare company with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, according to Variety.
The track, which first reached No. 1 in February, now matches the 14-week reigns of Carey’s “We Belong Together” and Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” in a specific chart lane: non-holiday Hot 100 leaders by female performers without a male-billed act.
Variety noted the category matters because Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” sits outside that comparison, having gathered about 22 weeks at No. 1 across seven years.
“Choosin’ Texas” has been the year’s biggest hit single, according to Variety, and its latest frame shows it still has plenty of gas. For the July 10-16 tracking week, the song drew 24 million official streams, down 4% from the previous week, and 51 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 1%. It also sold 7,000 copies in the U.S.
Langley keeps climbing past pop history
Before tying Houston and Carey, Langley’s run had already moved past several major Hot 100 benchmarks by women, according to Variety.
The song has now outlasted Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine,” which spent 13 weeks at No. 1. It also passed Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women Part I” and Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart,” both of which led the chart for 11 weeks.
The latest chart milestone arrives in a breakout year for Langley. Variety identified her as the artist shown accepting the Academy of Country Music’s Female Artist of the Year award in May.
Country and pop keep crowding the top 10
Langley was not the only country name making noise on the latest Hot 100. Stella Lefty earned her first top 10 entry as “Boston” rose to No. 6, according to Variety.
Olivia Dean also added another chart win. Her “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Radio Songs chart and moved from No. 12 to No. 9 on the Hot 100.
That climb pushed “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” ahead of Dean’s other hit, “Man I Need,” which fell from No. 5 to No. 10 on the Hot 100.
Variety reported that both Dean tracks have previously peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100. “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” has spent 41 weeks on the chart, while “Man I Need” has logged 46 weeks.
For now, Langley remains the name at the summit. With 14 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” has moved from country smash to Hot 100 history alongside two of pop’s most famous long-running leaders.
