Tom Holland’s dinner pitch to Erling Haaland has finally found the back of the net.

The Norwegian soccer star responded after Holland described the missed connection during an appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, according to TMZ.

Haaland left a comment on the show’s Instagram post saying the dinner invitation was accepted, calling the reply “a little late” and telling Holland to “just name the place,” TMZ reported.

The exchange started with a Formula One cameo. Holland told Jimmy Fallon he saw Haaland at the Monaco Grand Prix and decided to send the striker a direct message about meeting up later.

Holland said Haaland did not answer the message. On the show, the actor described the experience as humbling and said it was the kind of moment he needed as a well-known performer, according to TMZ.

There did not appear to be hard feelings from Holland’s side. He said he is a big admirer of Haaland’s talent, TMZ reported.

Holland also joked during the segment about England eliminating Norway from the World Cup the previous weekend, according to the report.

A late reply, a live invite

Haaland’s Instagram response turned the awkward celebrity DM story into a potential dinner plan. The comment was posted beneath the Tonight Show clip in which Holland recounted being left hanging.

The soccer star’s message was brief, but it gave Holland exactly what he had been looking for: a yes.

TMZ reported that Holland had explained the original DM as a casual attempt to connect after noticing Haaland at the Monaco race. The actor said he reached out with the idea that they could link up later.

The reply did not arrive in time for that first attempt, but Haaland’s public answer has now put the ball back with Holland.

No bad blood between the stars

Holland’s comments to Fallon framed the non-response as a funny ego check rather than a feud. He spoke warmly about Haaland while telling the story, according to TMZ.

Haaland’s comment also kept the tone friendly, accepting the invitation and asking Holland to choose the spot.

For now, the dinner appears to be an open invitation rather than a confirmed booking. TMZ did not report a date, restaurant or follow-up response from Holland.

Still, the stalled DM has turned into a public yes, and the next move belongs to Holland.
