The Five Star Weekend has checked in with a big first week on Peacock.

The Jennifer Garner-led series passed 1 billion minutes watched during its first seven days on the platform, according to first-party data from Peacock. The streamer says that makes it the top scripted title launch in Peacock history.

The series premiered July 9, landing inside the July 6 to 12 viewing window. Nielsen’s full streaming chart for that week is not expected for about another month, but early Nielsen data places The Five Star Weekend among the five most-watched original streaming series for that period.

The show has also made noise beyond the app. Peacock says social video tied to the series has drawn more than 13 million views. Sprout’s social content rankings listed it as the No. 1 most social streaming premiere for the week of July 6.

What the show is about

The Five Star Weekend stars Garner as Hollis Shaw, a well-known cook and bestselling author whose public image is built around taste, charm and polished recipes. The story begins after Hollis experiences a devastating loss.

According to Peacock’s description of the series, that loss starts pulling at parts of Hollis’ life that already had pressure points: her marriage, her relationship with her daughter and her need for approval from her fans.

Trying to work through grief and reset her life, Hollis invites people from different chapters of her past to her home on Nantucket for a weekend away. The guest list includes friends from childhood, college and motherhood, along with one unexpected arrival.

The series is set against an upscale coastal backdrop, with Peacock describing a story in which personal limits are tested and secrets come out over the course of the weekend.

The cast behind Peacock’s big debut

Garner is joined in the series by D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane and Timothy Olyphant.

The project is produced by Universal Global Television, which is part of Universal Studio Group.

For Peacock, the numbers give the streamer a clear scripted win at launch. The company’s own viewing data has already put The Five Star Weekend at the top of its scripted record book, while early Nielsen information and Sprout’s social rankings point to a broader first-week lift across streaming charts and social platforms.
