Hulu is lining up more Futurama beyond its next run, ordering three extended Futurama season 14 specials while rolling out a fresh trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, Deadline reported.

The news was announced Saturday during the animated comedy’s Comic-Con panel. According to Deadline, the three longer episodes are already in production, and the first will be a Christmas-themed special expected to arrive in 2027.

Hulu is keeping details on the other two specials quiet for now, Deadline reported. The move gives the revived Matt Groening comedy another burst of life on streaming after its return on Hulu.

When do the new Futurama episodes come out?

Futurama Season 14 premieres Monday, August 3, with two new episodes on Hulu and on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers, according to Deadline. International viewers will be able to watch on Disney+.

After the two-episode launch, new Season 14 episodes will stream on Mondays, Deadline reported. The first extended special is expected in 2027, though Hulu has not announced dates for all three specials.

What is in the Futurama Season 14 trailer?

The new trailer points the Planet Express crew toward another strange ride through space, with Deadline noting that the footage teases an intergalactic and possibly inter-dimensional mission.

Hulu’s logline promises “space pirates, lab-grown meats, sexy scams” and the return of Dr. Zoidberg’s lost love, according to Deadline. That is about as tidy as Futurama gets before the weirdness starts spilling out of the delivery ship.

The show’s new batch of episodes brings back the familiar voice cast. Deadline lists the Season 14 stars as John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman.

Who makes Futurama?

Futurama was created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. Deadline reported that Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz serve as executive producers.

The series comes from 20th Television Animation, part of Disney Television Studios. Animation is handled by Rough Draft Studios, according to Deadline.

The three extended episodes mark the latest addition to the show’s long, twisty run, which has included multiple returns across different platforms. Hulu has not yet revealed plots, titles or release timing for the second and third specials.

For now, the calendar is clear enough for viewers: Season 14 starts August 3, weekly episodes follow on Mondays, and the first longer special is slated to bring Futurama back for Christmas in 2027.
