Hard Knocks puts Super Bowl champion Seahawks in camp spotlight
HBO and NFL Films have released the trailer for the five-part Seattle Seahawks season, premiering August 4 on HBO and HBO Max.

The Seattle Seahawks are getting the full Hard Knocks treatment for the first time, and they are arriving with a very shiny storyline: HBO and NFL Films say the new season follows the reigning Super Bowl champions as they gear up for another run.
HBO and NFL Films released the trailer for Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks, the latest entry in the long-running behind-the-scenes NFL docuseries. The season premieres Tuesday, August 4, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and will also stream on HBO Max.
The run will include five episodes, with a new installment scheduled each Tuesday through September 1, according to HBO and NFL Films.
The cameras will be planted at Seahawks training camp in Renton, Washington, where the show will track the team’s summer build-up. HBO says the season will feature head coach Mike Macdonald, quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, cornerback Devon Witherspoon and defensive tackle Byron Murphy II.
Smith-Njigba enters the show with another headline attached: HBO identifies him as the 2025 Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
The Seattle edition marks the 27th season of Hard Knocks. The franchise began in 2001, but HBO says this is the first time the Seahawks have been the featured team for a training camp season.
One Seahawk has already been through the Hard Knocks machine. Cooper Kupp appeared in Season 15, when the series followed the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, according to HBO’s season history.
Liev Schreiber will narrate Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks, continuing his association with the NFL Films series.
A long NFL roll call
Since its 2001 debut, Hard Knocks has turned training camp into appointment TV for a string of franchises. HBO’s listed history includes the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills.
Several clubs have been back more than once. HBO’s history shows the Cowboys, Bengals, Jets and Rams among the teams to receive repeat visits from the series.
Now the Seahawks get the cameras, the microphones and the weekly HBO spotlight, with a championship defense as the central plotline.
