Jordan Devey death news was shared by his family after the former NFL guard, who spent part of his career with the New England Patriots, died by suicide at 38.
His wife, Linsey Devey, announced his death Friday on social media, noting that the day would have marked their 15th wedding anniversary. In her post, she linked to a GoFundMe page that said Devey took his own life.
Linsey wrote that the couple’s four children carry their father’s “eyes, freckles, and compassion.” She also wrote, “You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, ‘we’ll talk soon.’”

According to the GoFundMe, those high school players cared deeply for him and regarded him as a mentor, role model and friend. The tribute described service to others as a central part of how he lived after football.
What teams did Jordan Devey play for?
Devey played seven seasons in the NFL and appeared in 44 career games, according to the report on his career. He spent time with five teams: the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills.
He was with the Patriots when the franchise won the Super Bowl for the 2014 season. After later stops around the league, he retired in 2021 following a final season in which he appeared in one game for Buffalo the year before.
Devey’s parents have since spoken publicly about mental health awareness. They told Fox 13 that he may have suffered from CTE, a degenerative brain disease associated with repeated head trauma over a long period of time.
CTE can only be definitively diagnosed after death, but it has become a major concern in contact sports because of the long-term effects linked to repeated blows to the head. Devey’s parents raised the issue while discussing their son’s death with the station.
The family’s announcement prompted tributes focused on Devey’s life as a husband, father, athlete and volunteer coach. He is survived by Linsey and their four children.
