Josh Lucas joins Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning in Discretion
The Paramount+ legal drama has added Josh Lucas as production on the eight-episode A24 series is set to begin later this year.

Josh Lucas is heading into the legal pressure cooker with Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning.
Variety reported that Lucas has joined the cast of Discretion, the Paramount+ drama already led by Kidman and Fanning. Deadline first reported Lucas’ casting, according to Variety.
The series, ordered straight to series by Paramount+ in October 2025, is based on Chandler Baker’s short story of the same name. Variety said the show has an eight-episode order, with production expected to start later this year.
The drama centers on Lenny, played by Fanning, a summer associate at a high-end Dallas law firm. According to the show’s logline cited by Variety, Lenny discovers that a set of nondisclosure agreements is hiding a grim secret. The twist lands harder when she realizes she signed the same kind of agreement herself.
That discovery puts Lenny on a collision course with Sharon, played by Kidman, a senior female partner at the firm. Variety said the story strains the mentor-protégé relationship between the two women and digs into who is allowed to keep secrets, and what those secrets cost.
Lucas steps into the firm
Lucas will play Greg, described by Variety as a lawyer and the husband of Kidman’s powerful corporate law partner. His character is tied to the same law firm at the center of the NDAs driving the plot.
The casting keeps Lucas in business with the Paramount universe after his role as a younger John Dutton on Paramount Network’s Yellowstone. Variety also noted his recent work on the Apple TV dramedy Palm Royale.
His earlier television credits include The Firm and Mysteries of Laura. On the film side, Variety listed Ford v. Ferrari, The Lincoln Lawyer, Sweet Home Alabama and American Psycho among his best-known credits.
Lucas is represented by WME and Liebman Entertainment, according to Variety.
Who is making Discretion
Baker is writing the series and executive producing. Kidman and Fanning are also executive producers in addition to starring, Variety reported.
Susannah Grant is attached as an executive producer as well. Kidman is producing through Blossom Films with Per Saari, while Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward are executive producing for Lewellen Pictures.
Jordan Cerf of Linden Entertainment and Joe Hipps of Cut To are also executive producers. A24 is producing the series for Paramount+.
Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date in the reporting cited by Variety.
