Kieran Culkin is getting a very hot welcome to Quahog. The Kieran Culkin Family Guy casting was announced Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, with Variety reporting that the “Succession” star will voice Satan in a new Halloween special for Hulu.
The special is called “Happy Hell-o-ween” and is set to arrive later this year. According to Variety, it will stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. and, in most international markets, on Disney+.
The reveal came during a “Family Guy” panel, where executive producer and showrunner Rich Appel also showed the first look at Culkin’s animated Devil. The panel included cast members Alex Borstein, who voices Lois; Arif Zahir, who voices Cleveland; Jennifer Tilly, who voices Bonnie; and co-executive producer and supervising director Peter Shin, Variety reported.
What is Kieran Culkin doing on Family Guy?
Culkin is playing the Devil in “Happy Hell-o-ween,” the Halloween episode built around Brian and Stewie landing in hell. According to the special’s description reported by Variety, the pair are there because of a long list of bad conduct across the show’s 24 seasons.
The setup gets even more ridiculous from there. Variety reported that Brian and Stewie irritate the Devil so much that they wind up running the place themselves.
Culkin’s role follows his run as Roman Roy on “Succession,” the HBO drama that made him one of television’s most recognizable recent stars. “Family Guy” has long used celebrity guest voices for high-concept episodes, and this one gives Culkin a supernatural job title to match the Halloween timing.
Family Guy is also making a Christmas special
The Comic-Con panel brought a second seasonal reveal: a holiday special titled “The Peter Clause.” Variety reported that the episode is set during Christmas in Quahog and centers on Peter Griffin and his friends competing to become the town’s official Santa.
Per the description shared by Variety, Peter does not win the contest. Rather than take the defeat calmly, the episode sends him into the kind of bad decision-making the show’s fans would expect.
Both specials are slated for later this fall on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ in most international markets, according to Variety. Exact premiere dates were not included in the announcement.
When does Family Guy season 25 premiere?
“Family Guy” will reach Season 25 when it returns to Fox in midseason, which Variety described as early 2027. New episodes will also be available the next day on Hulu and on Hulu on Disney+ in the United States.
The long-running animated comedy comes from 20th Television Animation. Seth MacFarlane created the series and serves as an executive producer.
Variety reported that Appel and Alec Sulkin are executive producers and showrunners. Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter are also executive producers.
