Zoe Saldaña’s Joe is heading into another high-risk mission in the new trailer for Season 3 of Lioness, Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller at Paramount+.

The footage, released by Paramount+, puts Saldaña’s CIA operative back at the center of a spreading national-security crisis. In one early moment, Joe tells her children, “I’m a soldier. And a soldier’s job is to fight,” before the preview cuts toward combat and the machinery of Washington intelligence.

Deadline reported that the trailer frames this season as Joe’s most dangerous assignment yet. The preview features U.S. Secretary of State Edwin Mullins, played by Morgan Freeman, and CIA Deputy Director of Operations Byron Westfield, played by Michael Kelly, discussing a breach in national security.

Nicole Kidman’s Kaitlyn also steps in with a grim warning for Joe. In the trailer, Kaitlyn tells her to assume her phone and everything else have been compromised, adding, “You better get ready.”

The preview ends on an ominous note from Freeman’s Edwin, who says, “We’ll let the chips fall where they may. May God have mercy on us.”

What Season 3 is about

According to Deadline, Season 3 brings hidden networks, foreign agents and personal betrayals into collision. Joe, played by Saldaña, is again caught between the demands of her work and the pull of her family life as threats move closer to her own world.

The season’s description says suspicious patterns begin to surface, names disappear and paths shift in ways that point to enemies working out of sight. With guidance from Kaitlyn and Westfield, Joe is forced to face a conflict that reaches into every part of her life.

The new season follows the events of Season 2, where the CIA’s counterterrorism fight came closer to home. Deadline reported that Joe, Kaitlyn and Byron brought in a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a threat they had not previously identified.

That season also pushed Joe into another round of pressure from multiple directions, with the character forced to face the personal costs of leading the Lioness program.
