Liza Colón-Zayas joins Hulu legal drama Conviction
The Bear Emmy winner has boarded David Shore’s Hulu series led by Elisabeth Moss, Deadline reports.

Liza Colón-Zayas is heading from the kitchen to the courtroom.
The Emmy-winning star of FX’s The Bear has joined Conviction, the upcoming Hulu legal drama from David Shore, Deadline reported Monday. Her role is being kept secret, and she will appear as a recurring guest star, according to the report.
Colón-Zayas joins a cast led by Elisabeth Moss, who also executive produces the series. Deadline previously reported that Jimmi Simpson, William Jackson Harper, Kevin McKidd, Sebastian De Souza, Adam Godley, Linda Emond and Ella Anderson are also in the lineup.
What Conviction is about
Conviction is based on Jack Jordan’s 2023 book of the same name. The series centers on Neve Harper, played by Moss, a criminal defense attorney who gets the kind of case that can transform a career.
According to the show’s description reported by Deadline, the case involves a high-profile murder in which a husband is accused of killing his wife by setting their house on fire.
Neve’s legal fight gets darker when an unknown figure begins blackmailing her. The pressure forces her to breach legal, moral and ethical duties to secure an acquittal, while trying to keep her own secrets from coming out, according to the series logline.
The team behind the series
Shore, best known as the creator behind major TV dramas, executive produces through Shore Z Productions. Moss executive produces through Love & Squalor Pictures.
The executive producer roster also includes Jordan, Warren Littlefield, Ann Johnson and Lisa Harrison for The Littlefield Co., Bert Salke for Co-Lab21, Lindsey McManus for Love & Squalor Pictures, and Erin Gunn for Shore Z Productions, Deadline reported.
Colón-Zayas’ busy run
Colón-Zayas most recently played Tina Marrero across all five seasons of The Bear, according to Deadline. Her work on the series earned two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
She won the award in 2024 for Season 2, becoming the first Latina to win in that category, Deadline reported.
Her television credits also include HBO’s In Treatment and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU.
On the film side, Deadline reported that Colón-Zayas will next appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for July 31, as Detective Jean DeWolff. She also recently finished work on the indie drama Fleur, starring alongside Halle Berry and directed by Ellie Foumbi.
Her additional credits include John Krasinski’s live-action animated fantasy comedy IF, as well as Allswell in New York, which she starred in and produced. The dramedy won Best Screenplay in a U.S. Narrative Feature at the 2022 Tribeca Festival, according to Deadline.
Colón-Zayas is represented by Liebman Entertainment, Stewart Talent, and Schreck Rose Dapello, Deadline reported.
