Sony Pictures International Productions Spain is bringing Los Hilos del Miedo to Prime Video in Spain, turning viral social-media suspense into an eight-episode psychological thriller built for short-form viewing.
Variety reports that each episode will run about five minutes, making the project the first short-form series from Sony Pictures International Productions’ Spanish arm.
The series is based on stories by Spanish writer Salvador Gutiérrez Solís, whose work on X has drawn large audiences in Spain and Latin America. Gutiérrez Solís publishes under the handle @gutisolis.
What is Los Hilos del Miedo?
Los Hilos del Miedo is a short psychological suspense series inspired by everyday-horror stories that first found an audience on social media. The format aims to keep the quick hit of digital storytelling while giving it the polish of a streaming production.
The show follows Sony’s mobile-first pilot El Garaje, which Sony Pictures said reached 28.4 million total views on TikTok. The company also said the pilot drew more than 262,000 likes and nearly 300,000 interactions on the platform.
That performance appears to be the spark behind the new Prime Video project. According to Variety, Sony is using the series to test how stories that spread quickly on X and TikTok can be reshaped for premium streaming without losing their pace.
Who is making the series?
Sony Pictures International Productions Spain is producing the project. The company is also extending its collaboration with TAI Arts University School in Madrid, bringing young creators from TAI’s international community into the technical and artistic side of the production.
Variety reports that the arrangement is designed as both a commercial series and a training opportunity. Some TAI participants are expected to receive their first professional industry experience through the show.
Iván Losada, managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment in Spain, said in a statement reported by Variety that Sony is proud to innovate in short-form entertainment and to premiere the series on Prime Video. He also said the project shows that screen tension does not depend on traditional episode lengths.
Losada said adapting Gutiérrez Solís’ viral reach into five-minute episodes lets Sony connect digital-native success with a higher-end audiovisual production.
Gutiérrez Solís called the adaptation an unexpected jump for stories he first made for a social network, according to Variety. He also pointed to the role of TAI’s young filmmakers and said the project could help open a path for a new wave of audiovisual creators.
When will Los Hilos del Miedo be on Prime Video?
Los Hilos del Miedo is set to join Prime Video’s catalogue in Spain, but no launch date has been announced.
Prime Video’s involvement gives the project a streaming home after its roots in X threads and TikTok viewing. For Sony’s Spain division, it is a compact bet on whether social-first scares can travel from phone feeds to a subscription platform.
