Marvel Comic-Con 2026 panel unveils Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3
Marvel used Hall H to push Avengers: Doomsday, announce Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider and set up Black Panther 3 with David Jonsson.

Marvel Comic-Con 2026 brought Hall H a fresh look at “Avengers: Doomsday,” a Ryan Gosling-led “Ghost Rider” movie and a new “Black Panther 3,” according to Variety, but the studio kept much of its post-“Secret Wars” movie map under wraps.
Marvel fans filled the San Diego Comic-Con room Saturday night, with Variety reporting that some had waited more than 30 hours. The presentation ran about 40 minutes after a 30-minute delay and was led by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
Feige opened by noting Stephen Wacker’s new job as Marvel Comics editor-in-chief, Variety reported. The panel then moved to a trailer for “Endgame Encore,” a re-release of “Avengers: Endgame” that will include an exclusive early look at “Doomsday.”
What did Marvel announce at Comic-Con 2026?
The two major surprise film announcements were “Ghost Rider,” with Ryan Gosling attached to star, and “Black Panther 3,” with David Jonsson set to play T’Challa II, the son of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, according to Variety. Both films are slated for 2028.
Gosling’s “Ghost Rider” will reunite him with director Shawn Levy, Variety reported. Levy directed “Deadpool and Wolverine,” and the announcement followed a bit involving “Happy Sad Confused” host Josh Horowitz, who has previously asked Gosling about the character in interviews.
“Ghost Rider” is a Marvel character known for a flaming skull, a motorcycle and supernatural vengeance. The new film would bring the character back into Marvel’s screen plans after earlier big-screen versions existed outside the current MCU structure.
The “Black Panther 3” news put Jonsson, known for “Alien: Romulus,” into one of Marvel’s most closely watched franchises. Variety reported that Ryan Coogler is behind the film and that Jonsson will take on the title role as T’Challa’s son.
What was shown from Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel showed an exclusive “Doomsday” trailer that offered more of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Variety reported. The footage added background on Doom’s relationship with the Fantastic Four and hinted at a painful past, while keeping much of the story hidden.
The biggest trailer reveal, according to Variety, was Doom bringing back a group of giant Sentinel robots. Sentinels are anti-mutant machines from the “X-Men” side of Marvel lore, which points to the crossover scale of the movie.
The “Doomsday” cast also appeared onstage. Variety reported that a Deadpool figure in a gray X-Force suit appeared in the crowd and sounded like Ryan Reynolds, but the mask stayed on and Marvel did not confirm whether Reynolds was inside the costume or returning for the film.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo joked that production had wrapped on “Doomsday,” Variety reported, but the moment did not lead to a confirmed Deadpool casting update. Online speculation has linked Deadpool to “Doomsday” and 2027’s “Secret Wars,” but Marvel did not settle that question at the panel.
What did Marvel leave unanswered?
Variety noted that Marvel did not announce a new X-Men movie or reveal a new X-Men cast, despite Feige previously saying the mutants would help guide the MCU’s future. Several actors from Fox’s “X-Men” films are returning for “Doomsday,” but the panel did not say whether they will continue into “Secret Wars” or later films.
The next big Marvel showcase is Disney’s D23 event in three weeks. For now, Variety reported, “Ghost Rider” and “Black Panther 3” are the only announced films in the next Marvel phase after “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.”
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to arrive on Dec. 18, the same day as Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part 3,” according to Variety. Marvel’s Hall H showing gave fans new footage and two 2028 titles, while leaving the studio’s longer-term X-Men plan for another day.
