Netflix’s 13 Going on 30 reboot just filled out more of its cast, with Taylor Zakhar Perez, Owen Thiele, Nasim Pedrad, Supriya Ganesh and Myra Molloy joining the movie, according to Deadline.

The new names add another batch of supporting players around leads Emily Bader and Logan Lerman, whose casting was previously reported by Deadline. The ensemble already includes Adeline Rudolph, Jessica Alba, Taylor Ortega, Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky.

Deadline also reported additional newcomers Charley McCain, Henry Samiri, Audrina Miranda and Kai Zen have joined the film. The report did not disclose character details for the latest cast members.

Who is joining the reboot

The new additions bring credits from rom-coms, comedy, TV drama and franchise fare. Zakhar Perez is known for Red, White & Royal Blue, Thiele for Adults, Pedrad for Aladdin, Ganesh for The Pitt and Molloy for Girls Like Girls, according to Deadline.

McCain’s credits include Nocturne, Samiri has appeared in The Pitt, Miranda is linked to Jurassic World Rebirth and Zen appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Deadline reported.

Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer, two of the 2004 film’s original stars, may also be involved. Deadline said their appearances are not confirmed, but reported it has heard they will appear.

What Netflix has in the works

Plot details for the new film have not been announced. Deadline reported that production began in Los Angeles last month.

Brett Haley is directing the Netflix feature. Haley’s credits include Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation. The screenplay is by Hannah Marks, with revisions by Flora Greeson, according to Deadline.

Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum are producing for RK Films. Garner is an executive producer alongside Donna Roth and Susan Arnold, Scott Hemming for Revolution Studios, Alyssa Altman for RK Films, Marks, Gina Matthews and Ted Gidlow, Deadline reported.

The movie that started it

The original 13 Going on 30, released by Columbia Pictures in 2004, followed a 13-year-old girl who suddenly finds herself living as a 30-year-old woman and has to reckon with adult life and her own identity.

Garner played the adult version of the lead character, with Mark Ruffalo starring opposite her. Greer played Lucy Wyman, the character’s frenemy, in the Gary Winick-directed film.

The movie earned about $96 million at the box office, according to Deadline, and has remained visible enough to inspire more than one return trip. Garner has already executive produced a stage musical version, which opened at the Manchester Opera House last fall.

Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, who wrote the original film, wrote the musical’s book. Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner wrote original songs for that stage adaptation, Deadline reported.
