Owl Screenwriting Workshop submissions are now open for the 2027 program, with The Black List and the Athens Film Office accepting applications for a four-day residential session in Athens from January 12 to 15.
The program is aimed at professional screenwriters who have already landed early-career success and are ready to push feature film or television projects toward the international market, according to the Athens Film Office.
Up to 10 writers will be chosen for the workshop. The selected participants will take part in mentorship, individual script feedback, masterclasses, panels and networking events with industry professionals.
How do writers apply for the Owl Screenwriting Workshop?
Writers can submit through The Black List website until October 2. The Black List will select up to 40 projects for a long list, using the strength of the scripts as the basis for that stage of review.
Applications will be judged on originality, writing style, market potential and the writer’s track record, according to the program details. Writers from underrepresented backgrounds and with underrepresented perspectives are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have at least one professional credit in feature film or television that has been distributed. Submitted scripts must be written in English or translated into English.
