Ransom Canyon soundtrack: Season 2 adds Thomas Rhett and new originals
Netflix’s Ransom Canyon Season 2 soundtrack includes country cuts, live performances and three songs created through writer bootcamps.

The Ransom Canyon soundtrack is back with Season 2 on Netflix, and Deadline reports the Western drama has loaded up on country, bluesy rock and new original songs for its latest run.
The series, based on Jodi Thomas’ book of the same name, has made music part of its on-screen identity across both seasons. Deadline reports Charlie Crockett appeared with live performances in Season 1, while Season 2 features Thomas Rhett with Jordan Davis.
Music supervisor Madonna Wade Reed, who previously worked with showrunner April Blair on Reign and All American, also helped build new music for Season 2. According to Deadline, Reed put together singer-songwriter bootcamps in Nashville and Los Angeles, producing three songs used in the season: “Halls of My Heart” by FLEURIE, “Here We Are” by Sweet Tangerines and “Surrender (Whatever Happens)” by Charli Adams.

Season 2 opens with tracks including “Countryside” by Charlie Marie, “White Lightning” by Elijah Honey, “Muddy Waters” by Duke Tumatoe, “Honkytonkin” by Sam Williams and “The Heart & The Hope” by Peacemode. Later episodes add The Black Keys’ “Eagle Birds,” Ocie Elliott’s “Younger Days,” Emily Wolfe’s “Swoon,” Avi Kaplan’s “All My Ghosts” and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”
The live-music spotlight lands in Episode 7, “No Place Like Home,” where Deadline lists Thomas Rhett’s “Boots,” “Ain’t a Bad Life” by Thomas Rhett featuring Jordan Davis, and Jordan Davis’ “Bar None.” That episode also includes “Kissing Cowboys” by Maddie & Tae and “Again” by Doris Day & The Mellowmen.
Season 2 closes with Episode 8, “Go On Now, Get,” featuring “Power In Us” by Anderson Rocio, “Here We Are” by Sweet Tangerines, “Turn N Burn” by Ivory Coal, “There For You” by The Band Willa, “Surrender (Whatever Happens)” by Charli Adams and “Let Me Be Your Home” by Tony Lucca, according to Deadline.
Which Season 1 songs stood out?
Deadline’s Season 1 list includes Gavin DeGraw’s “Greatest of All Time,” Hootie & the Blowfish’s “I Only Wanna Be With You,” Khruangbin and Leon Bridges’ “Texas Sun,” Chris Stapleton’s “Second One To Know,” Sierra Ferrell’s “Fox Hunt,” The Red Clay Strays’ “Devil in My Ear” and José González’s “Teardrop.”
Charlie Crockett’s Season 1 appearance came in Episode 3, “Trouble Can Be Fun Sometimes,” where Deadline lists “Spade” and “I Need Your Love” as songs performed live in the show.
The first season’s later episodes also used tracks by Smashing Pumpkins, Charles Wesley Godwin, Cat Power, Beck, Mazzy Star, Walker Hayes, Zach Top and the Hanseroth Twins. Deadline reports the Season 1 finale, “Maybe It’s Time Yancy Grey Dies Too,” included “Faith in Me” by Kate Garfield, “Remember Me” by the Hanseroth Twins, “Fancy Like” by Walker Hayes and “Fall In” by Humbear.
