Rob Lathan has a new management home after helping stir the chaos on Prime Video’s Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat.
Deadline reports that Black Box Management has signed the actor and comedian following his appearance in the Emmy-nominated workplace comedy, the second season of Jury Duty.
The series has built its hook around a reality-hoax format dressed up in mockumentary clothes. Its first season followed Ronald Gladden, a San Diego solar contractor who did not know he had been placed inside a hidden-camera setup where professional actors played out scripted scenarios around him.
Season 2 shifted the prank-documentary machinery to a workplace setting. According to Deadline, it centered on Anthony Norman, a 25-year-old from Nashville who thought he had joined a documentary about everyday life at a small business after being brought in as a temporary worker at a family-owned hot sauce company.
Lathan appears in the season as Other Anthony, described by Deadline as an earnest and unaware employee with a distinctive comic sensibility.
Before the Prime Video role, Lathan developed his comedy through performances at Upright Citizens Brigade, where Deadline says he shaped the improvisational style associated with his work.
Black Box Management is based in Los Angeles and was founded by Mike Dill, a former CAA executive, and Lowell Shapiro, a former WME executive. Deadline reports the two first met as children at summer camp.
The company represents a mix of writers, directors, actors, documentary filmmakers and content creators. Its roster includes Sue Kim, who is finishing a Sony documentary about Lisa from Blackpink; John Patton Ford, whose A24 film How to Make a Killing, starring Glen Powell, debuted earlier this year; and Harper Dill, the writer of the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Marry Me.
Deadline also reports that Harper Dill is writing multiple projects for Amazon and preparing her first feature as director, based on her own experience during the 2025 Palisades fires.
In a statement to Deadline about signing Lathan, Black Box’s principals said, “Rob is the best. We’ve known Rob for a while, and we don’t really know many people funnier than him.”
The management firm is also building its production side. Deadline reports Black Box has a half-hour comedy in development with Fierce Baby Productions, an unscripted series with Propagate Media, and a scripted adaptation of the HBO Max documentary American Pain.
Lathan remains represented by Grace Kallis at Ginsburg Daniels, according to Deadline.
