Robert Pattinson’s Primetime lands September theatrical date
A24 will release Primetime nationwide on Sept. 25 after the Robert Pattinson film secured a Venice Film Festival slot.

Robert Pattinson’s Primetime is headed for a nationwide theatrical release on Sept. 25, Deadline reported, giving A24 an early-fall launch for the film after its Venice Film Festival selection.
The movie stars Pattinson as Chris Hansen, the NBC Dateline correspondent associated with To Catch a Predator. According to Deadline, the story is set in 2006 as Hansen works on the television project that would become one of the most talked-about installments in the true-crime and hidden-camera TV space.
To Catch a Predator featured law enforcement and people posing online as minors in operations targeting suspected child predators, Deadline noted. Primetime centers on Hansen during that period, with Pattinson taking on the role of the broadcaster.
Who is behind Primetime
The film comes from documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim, Deadline reported. The screenplay is by Ajon Singh.
Pattinson is also a producer on the project. Deadline reported that he produced with Brighton McCloskey through their company Icki Eneo Arlo.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone are also listed as producers, according to the report.
The cast also includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and Phoebe Bridgers.
A busy Sept. 25 at the box office
Primetime will not have the date to itself. Deadline reported that several other wide releases are also set for Sept. 25.
Those titles include Paramount’s Heart of the Beast, which stars Brad Pitt and is directed by David Ayer. Disney and Marvel Studios also have Avengers: Endgame Encore scheduled for that date, according to Deadline.
The same weekend is also set to bring DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, Bleecker Street’s horror title Victorian Psycho and Roadside Attractions’ horror film Crawlers.
For A24, the date places Primetime in the thick of the early awards-season corridor, coming after the Venice Film Festival lineup news. Deadline did not report additional release details beyond the nationwide theatrical debut.
The film adds another headline role to Pattinson’s slate while keeping him involved behind the camera as a producer. With Venice attention already attached and a crowded release frame ahead, Primetime now has its first major marker on the calendar.
