Rory Scovel sets Netflix comeback with Show Must Go On
The comedian’s new hour, directed by Scott Moran, is set to premiere globally on Netflix on August 11.

Rory Scovel has a new Netflix special on the calendar, with Show Must Go On set to premiere worldwide on Tuesday, August 11, according to Deadline.
The special marks Scovel’s first new hour for Netflix since 2017’s Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up for the First Time. Deadline reported that details on the topics covered in the new set have not been disclosed.
According to Deadline, the special was filmed at The Neptune in Seattle, Washington. Scott Moran directed the hour.
Scovel is among the producers on Show Must Go On, alongside Alex Bach and Daniel Powell of Irony Point, as well as Molly Mandel and Matt Schuler, Deadline reported.
A long road back to Netflix
The South Carolina-born comic has released several specials over the past decade. His earlier work includes The Charleston Special in 2015, Live Without Fear in 2021 and Religion, Sex, and a Few Things In Between, which premiered on Max in 2024.
Scovel’s Netflix return comes after a run that has kept him busy both on stage and on screen. Deadline noted that his acting credits include HBO’s Rooster, Apple TV’s Physical and Damien Chazelle’s film Babylon.
He also appears in a recent episode of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America, the HBO Max comedy from Larry David and Jeff Schaffer, according to Deadline.
Another screen role is already on the way. Deadline reported that Scovel will be seen in Amazon MGM’s Judgment Day, a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Zac Efron and directed by Nicholas Stoller.
Beyond stand-up
Scovel has also built credits behind the camera and in television comedy. He co-created and starred in Robbie, his Comedy Central series, Deadline reported.
He previously worked as a writer on The Eric Andre Show for multiple seasons. Deadline also reported that Scovel is represented by Mosaic, UTA and Schreck Rose Dapello.
For Netflix, Show Must Go On adds another Scovel hour to the platform nearly nine years after his last special there. For Scovel, it brings a new filmed set to a global audience, with Seattle’s Neptune serving as the backdrop.
