Roundabout puts The Full Monty and Bill Irwin on Broadway calendar
Roundabout Theatre Company has set Broadway and Off Broadway dates for its 2026-27 season, including The Full Monty and The Imaginary Invalid.

Roundabout Theatre Company has put hard dates on its 2026-27 New York season, with Bill Irwin first up on Broadway in a Molière revival and The Full Monty stripping into the spring slot.
The nonprofit theater company said its Broadway season at the Todd Haimes Theatre will begin Sept. 25, 2026, with The Imaginary Invalid, adapted from Molière by Irwin, who will also star. The production is scheduled to open Oct. 22, 2026.
Roundabout has described the comedy as the story of Argan, a committed hypochondriac who tries to marry his daughter to a doctor as a money-saving move, though she has other plans. Brandon J. Dirden is directing, according to the company’s earlier season announcement.
Next on the Broadway slate is Dominique Morisseau’s Mix and Master, directed by Kamilah Forbes. Performances are set to start Jan. 5, 2027, ahead of a Jan. 27 opening at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
The world premiere will star Tony winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson and two-time consecutive Tony winner Kara Young. Roundabout said the play is set around the last record shop in the Bronx, where a rising DJ and an older generation collide over music, inheritance and survival. The production will include live DJ sets, according to the company.
The Full Monty will follow in spring 2027, beginning performances April 3 and opening April 25 at the Todd Haimes Theatre. The musical has a book by Terrence McNally, music and lyrics by David Yazbek, choreography by Connor Gallagher and direction by Leigh Silverman.
The show, based on the 1997 film and first adapted for Broadway in 2000, follows six men who put together a strip act. Casting has not yet been announced.
Off Broadway dates are also set
Roundabout’s Off Broadway season at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre will begin with The Heart, a new musical based on Maylis de Kerangal’s Réparer les Vivants.
The production starts performances Oct. 8, 2026, and opens Oct. 29. Kait Kerrigan wrote the book and additional lyrics, with music and lyrics by Anne Eisendrath and Ian Eisendrath. Mandy Moore will choreograph, and Christopher Ashley will direct.
Roundabout said the show follows two families and a medical team over a 24-hour period after a young surfer dies and a stranger receives another chance at life. The company has billed it as its first new Off Broadway musical in years.
Dylan Guerra’s The Grief Eater Near North Bender will begin Jan. 21, 2027, and open Feb. 11 at the Laura Pels. Dustin Wills is directing, and the production is being presented in association with New York Theatre Workshop.
According to Roundabout’s synopsis, the play centers on a creature near North Bender that kills a person’s loved one and wipes that person from memory, sending an unlikely hunting party after it.
Roundabout also plans a 30th-anniversary production of The Vagina Monologues by V, formerly Eve Ensler, directed by Noma Dumezweni. Dates for that production have not yet been announced.
The company said more casting and creative team details for the season will be released later.
