SonyLIV has opened entries for season 6 of “Shark Tank India,” and the show is sending a feathered warning to would-be founders: don’t walk in sounding like a startup dictionary.

The new campaign, called “#DontBeATota,” uses a parrot named Tota to poke at entrepreneurs who can repeat business buzzwords without showing they understand the business behind them, according to Variety.

The campaign arrives as terms such as valuation, burn rate and EBITDA have moved from boardrooms into everyday startup chatter. Its central idea is that fluent jargon is no substitute for conviction, execution, resilience and a grip on the basics.

A parrot with pitch-deck energy

Tota, the campaign mascot, is presented as a bird who thinks he can charm the Sharks by rattling off startup terminology he does not properly understand. The contrast is direct: memorizing the language of entrepreneurship is one thing, building a company is another.

For a show built around founders selling their ideas under pressure, the campaign puts the spotlight back on what applicants can actually prove. SonyLIV is inviting founders to submit entries for the new season through the streamer, with the emphasis on real belief in their business and clear command of how it works.

Aman Gupta, a Shark on “Shark Tank India,” co-founder of boAt and founder of Off/Beat, tied the campaign’s joke to the show’s judging-room reality.

“If repeating startup buzzwords was enough to build a business, we would all be investing in parrots. That’s the thought behind this campaign,” Gupta said. “Over the years, ‘Shark Tank India’ has helped make entrepreneurship part of mainstream conversations, and that’s something we are incredibly proud of. But building a company has never been about sounding like an entrepreneur, it is about solving real problems, understanding your business inside out and showing the resilience to keep building every single day. That’s exactly the kind of founders we’re excited to meet in Season 6.”

Season 6 search begins

“Shark Tank India” has become one of the country’s most visible TV platforms for startup founders, bringing business pitches and investment conversations to a mainstream audience. The new campaign leans into that public familiarity with founder-speak, while warning applicants that slick vocabulary will not carry a weak pitch.

The Script Room conceived and produced the “#DontBeATota” campaign.

Entries for season 6 are now open on SonyLIV.
