Somebody Feed Phil YouTube move starts with Max and Helen’s special
Phil Rosenthal’s food series will post a July 27 Max and Helen’s episode on YouTube before Season 9 arrives in early 2027.

The Somebody Feed Phil YouTube era is getting a family-style opener: Phil Rosenthal will release a special mini episode on July 27 about Max and Helen’s, his Los Angeles diner, Variety reported.
The episode spotlights the Larchmont restaurant Rosenthal opened with chef Nancy Silverton in November 2025. Variety reported that the diner, named after Rosenthal’s parents, has drawn praise and long waits for its comfort food and easygoing feel.
The special is designed to tide fans over before Season 9, which Variety reported is expected to premiere in early 2027. It will appear on YouTube, where Rosenthal has shifted the food-and-travel series after its long run at Netflix.
Where can you watch Somebody Feed Phil now?
New Somebody Feed Phil episodes are set to live on the “Phil Rosenthal World” YouTube channel, according to Variety. The channel is part of a deal between Banijay and Rosenthal’s Lucky Bastards production company.
Under that pact, Variety reported, the channel will carry both short-form and long-form original programming. A teaser video for the Max and Helen’s episode has already been posted under the title “A Somebody Feed Phil Special Mini Episode: Max & Helen's Diner.”
For casual viewers, the platform change means the show’s next chapter is no longer tied to a Netflix subscription. YouTube will be the home for the new material Variety described, including the coming restaurant-focused installment.
What is Max and Helen’s?
Max and Helen’s is Rosenthal’s diner in Larchmont, a Los Angeles neighborhood, created with Nancy Silverton and named for his parents, Variety reported. The restaurant opened in November 2025 and centers on comfort food rather than fancy coffee-bar flourishes.
Rosenthal laid out the idea in a 2026 Variety interview, saying the mission was to “elevate comfort food.” He said the restaurant would focus on “the best eggs, the best home fries, the best toast and a great cup of coffee.”
He also told Variety the diner would keep the coffee service plain. “Lattes, cappuccinos? We’re not gonna have that,” Rosenthal said, adding that customers who want those drinks can find several places nearby, including Starbucks.
How did the show get here?
Rosenthal’s food series has already had a few homes. Variety reported that he began with I’ll Have What Phil’s Having on PBS in 2015, then left after the public broadcaster did not have funding for a second season.
The format later became Somebody Feed Phil at Netflix, where it ran for eight seasons from 2018 through 2025, according to Variety. The YouTube move now sets up another reset for Rosenthal’s globe-trotting food show, with one stop much closer to his own kitchen.
