South Park won Outstanding Animated Program, then used its official X account to turn Donald Trump’s past Emmy losses into the punchline.

South Park Trump Emmy celebrations came with a pointed visual gag on Sunday: after the Comedy Central series won Outstanding Animated Program, its official X account posted an image of its animated Donald Trump holding the trophy. Text above the character read, “You finally got your Emmy,” according to Variety.
The graphic showed Trump with his pants and underwear around his ankles. Its accompanying caption congratulated creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with the full South Park team, on the category win, Variety reported.
The award recognized “Sermon on the ’Mount,” a July 2025 episode that satirized Trump and his supporters. TMZ reported that the episode included a fictionalized Trump in bed with Satan.
Why did South Park say Trump finally got an Emmy?
The joke drew on Trump’s own Emmy record. The Apprentice received nominations for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2004 and 2005, but did not win either year, according to Variety. The Canberra Times, citing Australian Associated Press reporting, said The Amazing Race won the category on both occasions.
So the image gave the cartoon version of Trump an Emmy in the same moment the real award went to South Park. The post did not claim that Trump himself had received an Emmy.
A return to the winners’ circle
The win was South Park’s first Emmy since 2013, The Canberra Times reported. It was also the fifth Emmy win for the series.
Trump had been a prominent target of the show’s recent seasons. Variety reported that he was a central antagonist in Seasons 27 and 28, while the new award specifically went to the Trump-satirizing “Sermon on the ’Mount.”
The trophy post kept the message brief. Its caption was a standard congratulations to Parker, Stone and their colleagues; the image supplied the extra joke, tying the show’s latest award to Trump’s unsuccessful bids two decades earlier.
