Christopher Griffith says he now has phone records and text messages that he believes connect Stefon Diggs to an alleged attack on him in Los Angeles, according to court documents reported by TMZ.
Griffith, who has accused the NFL player of sexual assault, is seeking to expand his lawsuit against Diggs with new allegations based on material produced during discovery, TMZ reports. Discovery is the pretrial process where parties exchange evidence.
According to TMZ, Griffith says the newly obtained records came from Diggs’ assistant and include communications he claims show planning around the alleged attack. Griffith says the material includes messages about travel and lodging involving one of the men he alleges assaulted him on the day of the incident.
Griffith also claims phone logs show Diggs placed a call to the same alleged assailant while the attack was happening, TMZ reports. In the filing, Griffith says the timing matches surveillance footage that allegedly showed the man using a phone inside Griffith’s apartment building.
The allegations have not been proven in court. Diggs, who sued Griffith first, has accused him of harming his reputation by making assault allegations, according to TMZ.
Defamation claim over social post
Griffith is also trying to add a defamation claim tied to a recent social media post that he says appeared to address their legal battle, TMZ reports.
According to TMZ, the post attributed to Diggs said someone was “lying on my name because he got caught stealing.” The post also accused the person of trying to act like a victim while lying, TMZ reports. Griffith says the message was defamatory.
The legal fight between the two men centers on Griffith’s claims that Diggs drugged and sexually assaulted him in May 2023 at Diggs’ home in Maryland, according to TMZ. Griffith says he rejected Diggs’ advances.
Griffith has also alleged that about a week later, Diggs had his brother and other men assault him in an effort to silence him, TMZ reports. Diggs has denied the broader accusations through his own lawsuit, which claims Griffith damaged his reputation by accusing him of assault.
The new filing, as described by TMZ, attempts to fold the alleged text messages, phone records and social media post into Griffith’s amended complaint. The case remains an active civil dispute, and the accusations from both sides are still being fought in court.
