Stream Shark Week on Sling TV as Discovery’s annual event returns

Viewers looking to stream Shark Week without cable can watch Discovery Channel’s annual fin-fest live through Sling TV, Variety reported, as the 2026 run brings new specials each night through Saturday, Aug. 1.
The programming event began Sunday, July 26, on Discovery Channel. According to Variety, new Shark Week specials air nightly starting at 8 p.m. ET, putting great whites, makos and other ocean predators back in prime time.
How can I stream Shark Week without cable?
Variety reported that Sling TV carries Discovery Channel through its Sling Blue package and its Sling Orange + Blue package. That means subscribers can watch the live Discovery broadcasts online without a traditional cable plan.
Sling Blue includes more than 40 live channels, according to Variety, and lets subscribers stream on up to three devices at the same time. The service also includes 50 hours of cloud DVR storage, so viewers can record Shark Week specials and watch them later.
Viewers who miss the live airings can add Discovery+ through Sling, Variety reported. Discovery+ offers an ad-supported plan for $5.99 per month and an ad-free plan for $9.99 per month, with Shark Week programs available on demand.
What is on Shark Week 2026?
This is the 38th edition of Shark Week, according to Variety, with Discovery airing 20 new specials centered on shark behavior, attacks, conservation and ocean science. Shark Week is Discovery Channel’s annual block of shark-focused programming, mixing wildlife footage, scientific expeditions and themed specials.
The lineup opened with “K-Pop Shark Heroes,” which features comedian Ken Jeong and singer Rei Ami. Variety reported that the special follows them as they work to challenge misconceptions about sharks across East Asia.
Other programs include “Air Jaws: Red, White and Breach,” about great white sharks breaching along the U.S. coast, and “Invasion of the Mega Sharks,” which follows researchers looking for a potentially record-breaking great white near Nova Scotia.
Later entries take the week into prehistoric territory and predator showdowns. “Jurassic Sharks” uses CGI and real-world expeditions to examine ancient species, while “Jaws vs Orca” looks at evidence that killer whales are hunting great whites, according to Variety.
Discovery’s lineup also includes “How to Train a Great White,” which tests whether the sharks can learn and respond to cues. “Ultimate Shark Dive” follows high diver Molly Carlson as she attempts a helicopter jump into a narrow shark cage.
The week closes Aug. 1 with “Great White Highway,” focused on the rising number of great whites moving along the East Coast, followed by “Thresher Shark: Stun to Kill,” about how thresher sharks use their tails to disable prey, Variety reported.
