Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has taken the family name drama to court.
The 18-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filed a petition to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The filing lists the reason for the request as “personal,” TMZ reported.
PEOPLE first reported the name-change filing.
The move would make official a name Vivienne has already used in public-facing work. TMZ previously reported that she was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” a show she helped produce with Jolie.
Vivienne is one of Pitt and Jolie’s six children, and she is the twin sister of Knox. The twins are the youngest children of the former couple.
Other Jolie-Pitt children have made similar filings
Vivienne’s petition follows other efforts by Pitt and Jolie’s children to remove “Pitt” from their legal names, according to TMZ’s prior reporting.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt successfully petitioned to drop “Pitt” from her name, TMZ reported. Her filing came three days after her 18th birthday, according to the outlet.
Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt have also filed petitions seeking to change their names, TMZ reported. Zahara is seeking the name Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox is seeking Maddox Chivan Jolie, according to the outlet.
TMZ also reported that sources close to Pitt have previously blamed Jolie for the distance between Pitt and some of the children. Those sources described Vivienne’s filing to TMZ as another development in what they called a sad, ongoing effort to separate the children from their father.
That claim comes from sources close to Pitt, and the filing itself gives only “personal” as Vivienne’s stated reason, according to TMZ.
Brad and Angelina’s legal battles continue
Pitt and Jolie finalized their divorce in late 2024 after years of litigation, TMZ reported.
The former spouses are still fighting in court over Château Miraval, the French winery they bought while they were married, according to TMZ. That dispute has continued even after the divorce was finalized.
Vivienne’s petition adds another legal thread to the long-running public aftermath of one of Hollywood’s most closely watched splits. For now, the request before the court is narrow: an 18-year-old asking to be known legally as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
