Yaga, the Crave series starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams, is getting a splashy world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the festival’s Primetime program for television.
The series, which is also set for AMC+ in the U.S., joins a genre-heavy TIFF TV slate that includes fresh takes on Carrie and Friday the 13th, plus new international dramas from Australia, France, Germany and Brazil.
TIFF’s Primetime section will begin with Below, Jesse McKeown’s Netflix drama set in an isolated Newfoundland community menaced by a mysterious creature from the sea. The program will close with Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s Prime Video reworking of the Stephen King story.
The lineup also includes the world premiere of American Hostage, an MGM+ anthology series from Shawn Ryan that stars Jon Hamm. Peacock’s Crystal Lake, Brad Caleb Kane’s A24-produced prequel series tied to Friday the 13th, is also on the bill.
Apple TV’s Slow Horses will screen its new season as an international premiere, adding a spy-world jolt to a program otherwise packed with monsters, mysteries and high-stakes drama.
The international selections include Australia’s 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback, France’s Alice, Germany’s Blindspot Berlin and Brazil’s Oxygen Masks Will (Not) Drop Automatically. Alice is listed as a France and Canada production.
TIFF runs September 10 to 20. The Primetime section is led by Geoff Macnaughton, TIFF’s vice president of market programming and theatrical.
