Yakir Levi, an Israeli-American reality TV personality who appeared on Israel’s Channel 13 docuseries “The Americans,” has died after falling from the 28th floor of a Florida resort, TMZ reported. He was 45.
According to TMZ, Sunny Isles Beach police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were called to Acqualina Resort and Residences shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday. Levi was pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet reported.
Investigators do not suspect foul play, TMZ reported, citing information it received about the case. Authorities said Levi was alone when the fall happened, according to the report.
The investigation is still open. TMZ reported that officials are working with the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner to determine Levi’s cause and manner of death.
Known from “The Americans”
Levi was known to viewers in Israel through “The Americans,” a Channel 13 docuseries about Israeli expatriates pursuing life in the United States while keeping ties to Israel.
His own story became part of that public profile. According to TMZ, Levi said he came to the U.S. with $300 and later built his fortune through a business focused on restoring properties damaged by fires, floods and other disasters.
Levi was born in Ramla, Israel, TMZ reported. His remains are expected to be returned to Israel for burial, according to the outlet.
Family tribute
A woman who identified herself as Levi’s sister posted a tribute on Facebook after his death, TMZ reported.
“My dear precious brother. I entrust his soul to the Creator. May someone wake me up from this crazy nightmare,” she wrote, according to TMZ.
Levi is survived by his wife and three children, the outlet reported.
Acqualina Resort and Residences, where authorities responded, is in Sunny Isles Beach, a coastal city in Miami-Dade County. TMZ described the property as a luxury hotel.
No further details about the circumstances of the fall were reported. Authorities have not announced a final ruling on the death while the medical examiner’s work continues, according to TMZ.
