Daniel Jones injury update season is officially open in Indianapolis: the Colts quarterback said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show that he has been fully cleared for training camp after the Achilles injury that cut short his 2025 season, according to ESPN.

Jones said he expects to take part in 11-on-11 and full-team work when the Colts hold their first official practice Wednesday. Indianapolis players are due to report to camp this week, ESPN reported.

The quarterback described himself as feeling good and said the plan is to be back in team drills from the start of practice. He also said there is still work ahead as Indianapolis builds toward Week 1, when the Colts are scheduled to host the Baltimore Ravens.

Is Daniel Jones cleared for training camp?

Yes. Jones said Monday that he has been fully cleared to participate in Colts training camp after the right Achilles tear he suffered in December, according to ESPN.

An Achilles tear is a major lower-leg injury involving the tendon that connects the calf muscles to the heel. For an NFL quarterback, clearance for full-team drills is a key step because it brings pass drops, movement in the pocket and live practice timing back into the routine.

Jones, 29, told the show he is in a strong place physically and said he can do everything asked of him. He added that there remains a final stretch of recovery as he gets back into 11-on-11 work and builds toward feeling fully himself again.

His return is a central summer plot for the Colts after a 2025 season that started hot and ended painfully. ESPN reported that Jones had a breakthrough year before the Achilles injury, directing an offense that was pushing toward franchise-record territory during the first half of the season.

The Colts were 8-2 before Jones sustained a hairline fracture in his left fibula, according to ESPN. He later struggled before tearing the Achilles in his other leg in December, ending his season.

Before the injury, Jones set personal bests in several major passing categories, ESPN reported. He averaged 8.1 yards per pass attempt, posted a 63.0 QBR and completed 68% of his throws, all career highs.

The Colts kept him in place this offseason. ESPN reported that Jones re-signed with Indianapolis on a two-year, $88 million contract that can reach $100 million after he received the franchise tag.

That deal puts plenty of attention on Wednesday’s practice. Jones’ own update points to a quarterback cleared for the full camp ramp-up, with the Ravens opener already looming as the first regular-season test.
