Dolphins lock up Jordyn Brooks on reported $51.3 million deal

Jordyn Brooks is staying in Miami, and the price tag says plenty about where the Dolphins are putting their trust.
The Dolphins and the 28-year-old linebacker have agreed to a three-year extension worth $51.3 million, with $35 million guaranteed, agent Erik Burkhardt told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The agreement keeps one of Miami’s top defensive leaders in place after a season in which Brooks piled up tackles at a league-leading pace. According to ESPN, Brooks led the NFL last season with 183 combined tackles and 99 solo tackles.
That production helped Brooks earn first-team All-Pro honors, giving Miami a centerpiece to retain during an offseason marked by roster change.
Miami keeps a leader amid roster turnover
ESPN described the Dolphins as rebuilding and reported that the team has moved on from several veterans this offseason. Even with those departures, Miami has made a point of securing players it views as key leaders.
Brooks is the latest name on that list. ESPN reported that the Dolphins also reached extensions this offseason with running back De’Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer.
For Miami, the Brooks deal puts a major commitment behind a player coming off one of the most productive tackling seasons in the league. The guaranteed money, as relayed by Burkhardt to ESPN, represents most of the total value of the new agreement.
The extension also gives the Dolphins continuity at linebacker while the rest of the roster continues to shift. Brooks’ first-team All-Pro selection and league-leading tackle totals made him one of the club’s most decorated returning players from last season.
ESPN did not report additional contract details beyond the length, total value and guaranteed figure provided by Burkhardt.
Brooks joins Achane and Brewer in Miami’s extension push
The Brooks agreement follows Miami’s offseason extensions with Achane and Brewer, according to ESPN, showing the Dolphins have been selective about which pieces to keep as they reshape the team.
Achane’s deal secured a key offensive player, while Brewer’s extension kept the team invested at center. Brooks now gives Miami another completed deal, this time on defense.
With the extension in place, Brooks remains tied to the Dolphins after a season defined by volume, durability and recognition. Per ESPN, no NFL player finished last season with more combined tackles or solo stops.
