Luguentz Dort is headed to Atlanta, with ESPN reporting Sunday that the Hawks, Thunder and Mavericks have agreed to a three-team trade involving multiple young players and draft assets.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Oklahoma City is sending Dort, an NBA All-Defensive wing, to the Hawks. The Thunder will receive three second-round picks in the deal, while Zaccharie Risacher is going to Dallas and Ryan Nembhard is also landing in Atlanta.
The move gives the Hawks a 27-year-old perimeter stopper who made the NBA All-Defensive first team in 2025. ESPN reported that Atlanta will pair Dort with Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker on the wing.
Thunder keep trimming payroll
For Oklahoma City, the reported trade is the latest in a cost-cutting summer. ESPN said the Thunder have now added seven second-round picks while moving below the second apron and removing $200 million through trades involving Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins.
ESPN reported that the Thunder could have declined Dort's $17.7 million team option to save money. Instead, Oklahoma City picked it up, turned the contract into three future assets and created a $17 million trade exception.
The outlet also reported that the move puts Dort in line for a potential long-term deal in Atlanta, something ESPN said was not available to him with the Thunder.
Dort spent his first seven NBA seasons with Oklahoma City. ESPN described him as a key member of the Thunder's 2025 championship group.
What Atlanta is getting
Dort averaged 8.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 69 games last season, according to ESPN. Across seven seasons, all with the Thunder, he has averaged 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds.
His arrival gives Atlanta another defensive-minded option on the perimeter. ESPN reported the Hawks are also positioned to have more than $40 million in cap space next summer.
Risacher to Dallas, Nembhard to Atlanta
Risacher, the former No. 1 pick, is headed to the Mavericks as part of the deal, according to ESPN. The 21-year-old averaged 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 67 games last season, his second year in the league.
ESPN reported that Risacher finished second to Stephon Castle in Rookie of the Year voting after the 2024-25 season.
Nembhard, 23, is also going to the Hawks, ESPN reported. He averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 60 games last season, his first in the NBA.
The reported trade gives Atlanta two additions, gives Dallas a former top pick and gives Oklahoma City more draft capital plus financial flexibility after another aggressive roster reshuffle.
