Major League Baseball’s 2027 season will get going on March 24, the earliest start to a regular season in league history, according to the schedule MLB released Thursday.
The first game will be played on a Wednesday and shown on Netflix, with the two teams still to be announced by the league. The more familiar Opening Day lands one day later, March 25, with 14 games involving the other 28 clubs.
MLB’s opening weekend is built around division business, with 10 matchups between teams from the same division. The weekend also includes three interleague series. The first day with all 30 clubs in action is set for Saturday, March 27.
The league also lined up several full-schedule dates across the season. MLB said all 30 teams are slated to play on Jackie Robinson Day on April 15, Memorial Day on May 31, Lou Gehrig Day on June 2, Independence Day on July 4, Labor Day on Sept. 6 and Roberto Clemente Day on Sept. 15.
The regular season is scheduled to end Sunday, Sept. 26. MLB’s finale will have a division-heavy finish, with 10 of the 15 games matching teams from the same division.
Big dates on the 2027 MLB calendar
The Red Sox will play their annual Patriots’ Day game at Fenway Park on Monday, April 19, with Boston hosting the Guardians.
The Athletics will stage consecutive three-game series at Las Vegas Ballpark. They will host the Padres beginning May 31, then face the Reds there starting June 3.
Toronto gets the Canada Day spotlight on July 1, when the Blue Jays host the Angels.
Wrigley Field will host the 97th All-Star Game, along with the surrounding events. The Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday, July 12, and the All-Star Game follows Tuesday. MLB said Wrigley will become the only active ballpark to host the Midsummer Classic four times, after previous games there in 1947, 1962 and 1990.
The second half begins Thursday, July 15, with two teams still to be named playing on ESPN. The rest of the league returns the next day. That restart also brings Rivalry Weekend, running July 15-18 with 11 interleague rival pairings on the schedule.
