Miami, listed at 52-54 by CBS Sports, hosts Philadelphia at 6:40 p.m. ET at LoanDepot Park to open a three-game series. The Marlins nearly ended the slide Sunday, according to CBS Sports, but gave up four runs in the eighth inning of a 5-3 loss to the San Diego Padres.
The fall has been sharp. CBS Sports reported that Miami was 10 games over .500 less than three weeks ago and had pulled even with Philadelphia for second place in the NL East after a July 9 sweep of Seattle. The Marlins now sit fourth in the division, 10.5 games behind Atlanta.
Philadelphia comes in 57-49, with CBS Sports noting the Phillies trail the Braves by 5.5 games and hold the second NL wild-card spot. The Phillies are 2-5 against Miami this season, but the pitching matchup leans toward Zack Wheeler, who is listed at 10-2 with a 2.16 ERA.

For Phillies-Marlins, SportsLine’s Projection Model is on Over 7.5 at -115, while CBS Sports identified Angelo Magliocca’s player prop pick as Wheeler Over 18.5 outs recorded at +129. CBS Sports said the model has the total going over in nearly 66% of simulations.
Wheeler has allowed one run over 12 innings in two starts against Miami this season, according to CBS Sports, with 17 strikeouts in those outings. Miami’s starter, Tyler Phillips, is listed at 2-5 with a 3.52 ERA. CBS Sports reported that Philadelphia scored eight runs off Phillips in four innings on June 16, though he also threw four scoreless relief innings against the Phillies in May.
The 7:10 p.m. ET game in Cincinnati brings another split between the model and an expert. CBS Sports lists the Reds as -165 favorites against the Cleveland Guardians, with SportsLine’s model backing Guardians +1.5 at -148. CBS Sports said expert Micah Roberts is on Reds -1.5 at +123.
Cleveland arrives at 54-53 after five straight losses, according to CBS Sports, and has scored 10 total runs during that skid. The Guardians were shut out in their last two games, while Cincinnati, listed at 49-55, has won four of five.
In Anaheim, CBS Sports lists the Houston Astros as -111 favorites over the Los Angeles Angels for a 9:38 p.m. ET opener. SportsLine’s model is on Angels +1.5 at -177, while CBS Sports highlighted PropBetGuy’s pick of Walbert Urena Over 4.5 strikeouts at -102.
Houston is 52-55, according to CBS Sports, but sits just two games back in both the AL West and wild-card races. The Angels are 42-64, and CBS Sports noted three of their five losses since the All-Star break were by one run.
The late card also includes Boston at the Athletics at 9:40 p.m. ET in West Sacramento. CBS Sports lists the Red Sox as -178 favorites after winning 17 of 19 and nine straight road games. SportsLine’s model still backs Athletics +1.5 at -107, with CBS Sports reporting that the pick hit in 66% of simulations.
