MLB slate leads CBS Sports board as trade chatter heats up
CBS Sports’ Monday lineup spotlighted a 15-game MLB schedule, trade deadline buzz, NFL rookie sleepers and fresh video highlights.

CBS Sports put baseball in the fast lane Monday, listing a 15-game MLB schedule while also pushing trade deadline coverage, NFL rookie watch lists and a stack of weekend highlight videos.
The sports site’s MLB board opened with Twins-Guardians at 6:40, followed by a packed evening that included Pirates-Yankees, Rays-Blue Jays, Orioles-Red Sox and Dodgers-Phillies. CBS Sports marked Dodgers-Phillies at 7:10 and Cardinals-Angels at 10:10 as ESPN games.
Other MLB matchups on the board included Padres-Braves, Mets-Brewers, Giants-Royals, White Sox-Rangers, Tigers-Cubs, Marlins-Astros, Nationals-Rockies, Athletics-Diamondbacks and Reds-Mariners, according to CBS Sports’ listings.
Trade deadline talk takes the lead
CBS Sports featured an MLB deadline breakdown sorting teams into likely buyers, sellers and clubs in between. The site also promoted a rumors piece saying the Braves were targeting a “playoff-caliber starter” and that the Athletics were receiving calls on outfielders.
The MLB push came alongside a power rankings piece focused on a real race in the AL East and a surprise contender getting back on track, according to CBS Sports’ homepage lineup.
NFL, NBA and college football share the spotlight
The top NFL item on the page looked at four Offensive Rookie of the Year sleepers. CBS Sports described the group as a Broncos running back and three NFC wide receivers who could join the favorites in the award chase.
The site also featured a story on NFL stars campaigning for natural grass fields as teams reinstall turf following the World Cup, according to CBS Sports.
In NBA coverage, CBS Sports promoted offseason report cards grading every Eastern Conference team. Another NBA item graded a trade in which the Thunder dealt Lu Dort and cleared salary while the Mavericks added a former No. 1 overall pick, according to the site.
College football made the board with a feature on transfer-heavy teams that could push into the 2026 College Football Playoff picture. CBS Sports also listed a story saying Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel would step down after a probe into the athletic department.
Weekend highlights roll on
CBS Sports’ video rail carried a long list of game highlights from July 19. In MLB clips, the Red Sox beat the Rays 6-1, the Dodgers beat the Yankees 8-2 in one game and the Yankees answered with a 2-1 win in another.
Other listed MLB finals included the Orioles over the Astros 5-2, Nationals over Athletics 5-2, Reds over Rockies 9-6, Brewers over Marlins 3-1, Cubs over Twins 10-1, Braves over Rangers 8-5, Mets over Phillies 6-1, Pirates over Guardians 7-1 and White Sox over Blue Jays 3-0.
WNBA highlights showed the Dream beating the Sky 93-91, the Wings topping the Sparks 90-82 and the Mercury defeating the Sun 72-63, according to CBS Sports’ video listings.
The site also promoted final-round highlights from the 154th Open Championship and an NBA clip saying the Warriors won the Summer League title, with Yaxel Lendeborg named MVP.
