A Novak Djokovic gender reveal turned into a courtside keepsake for an expecting couple after the tennis star read their baby news from a note, according to ESPN.

The couple drew Djokovic into the moment earlier this year by asking him to open and read a paper that carried the sex of their baby, ESPN reported. The request was unusual enough that Djokovic checked with them before going ahead.

In video shared on Instagram and cited by ESPN, Djokovic asked the couple, “Again, are you sure? Positive?” After they confirmed, he played along in front of the people gathered nearby.

What did Novak Djokovic reveal for the couple?

Djokovic read the note and announced that the couple was expecting a girl, according to ESPN. The reveal drew cheers from the crowd, and Djokovic told the couple, “She's going to be your whole world.”

A gender reveal is a public or private announcement of an expected baby’s sex. In this case, the couple handed the suspense to one of tennis’ biggest names, turning a family moment into a sports-world cameo.

Where did the Djokovic gender reveal happen?

ESPN reported that comments on the original Instagram post indicated the exchange appeared to take place in early March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The video itself was posted in July, according to ESPN.

The clip showed the note being lowered to Djokovic by string, ESPN reported. Before reading it, Djokovic also asked the nearby crowd whether they were backing a boy or a girl.

The Instagram account sportsish shared the post that ESPN embedded in its report. ESPN also linked to the original Instagram post where comments pointed to the Indian Wells timing.

The couple later shared a Wimbledon birthday twist

The story did not end with the reveal. ESPN reported that the couple later replied to a comment from Djokovic on their own post and said their daughter was born on July 7.

That date was the same day Djokovic played Felix Auger-Aliassime at Wimbledon, according to ESPN.

The couple also came away with memorabilia from the encounter. ESPN reported that Djokovic gave them a branded memento, posed for a photo and signed the paper he had read from during the reveal.

On the note, Djokovic wrote “Dr. Novak Djokovic approved,” along with “Congratulations,” a heart and his signature, according to ESPN.
