The Rocket Classic 2026 predictions board starts with Cameron Young at the top, as the PGA Tour’s Detroit stop prepares for its eighth and final edition at Detroit Golf Club.
According to CBS Sports’ Patrick McDonald, the tournament, which has been held in Detroit since 2019, will close its PGA Tour chapter this week with its strongest field yet. The event runs July 30 to Aug. 2 and sits as the penultimate tournament of the PGA Tour regular season.
Detroit Golf Club has also had work done ahead of the tournament. McDonald reported that the restoration was intended to bring back features tied to architect Donald Ross, giving the course an older-style feel while creating a fresh test for the field.
Who is playing in the 2026 Rocket Classic?
Young, Chris Gotterup and Wyndham Clark are among the multiple-time winners in the field, according to CBS Sports. Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, J.J. Spaun, Ben Griffin and Patrick Cantlay are also scheduled to play in Detroit.
Jackson Koivun arrives after winning the 3M Open, a result that moved him to No. 70 in the FedEx Cup standings, CBS Sports reported. Jordan Spieth is making his first start since missing the cut at Royal Birkdale and sits No. 55, putting him near the top-50 bubble for a second straight season.
The FedEx Cup bubble refers to players sitting close to key cutoff points in the season-long standings. This week also matters for Andrew Putnam, Mac Meissner and Johnny Keefer, who are Nos. 71 through 73, according to CBS Sports.

DraftKings Sportsbook lists Young as the 10-1 favorite, per CBS Sports. Young has history in Detroit, including near-misses in 2022 and 2024, and enters after finishing runner-up at The Open.
Schauffele is next among the named favorites at 16-1. CBS Sports noted that he finished inside the top 20 at all four majors this season and is making his Rocket Classic debut.

Cantlay, at 22-1, enters outside the top 30 and near the top-50 line after posting three top-10 finishes this year, none since the week before the PGA Championship.
Who did CBS Sports pick to win?
McDonald’s winner pick is J.J. Spaun at 34-1. CBS Sports noted that Spaun has already won this season and had strong Detroit results before skipping last year’s event, including three top-15 finishes and no missed cuts in his prior appearances.
For a contender, McDonald picked Davis Thompson at 78-1 after a top-10 finish at the 3M Open. CBS Sports reported that Thompson had also come close at the Rocket Classic in 2024.
The sleeper pick is Benjamin James at 125-1. McDonald pointed to James’ professional debut at the Canadian Open, where he held a 36-hole lead, and noted that his run of five straight made cuts to start his professional career ended last week.
The tournament details are tidy but loaded: Detroit Golf Club will play as a par 70 at 7,328 yards, with a $10 million purse on offer, according to CBS Sports.
