Rocket Classic odds put Cameron Young on top for Detroit finale

Cameron Young sits atop the Rocket Classic odds at +1000 for this week’s PGA Tour stop in Detroit, where the tournament is set for its final run under the Rocket Classic name, according to CBS Sports.
The event is the next-to-last PGA Tour tournament before the FedExCup playoffs. CBS Sports reported that weekend coverage will air on CBS and Paramount+, with a field that includes Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka.
Why is this the final Rocket Classic?
Rocket, the mortgage company that sponsors the event, chose not to pick up its option for 2027, CBS Sports reported. The sponsorship reportedly cost about $15 million per year.
The PGA Tour’s full 2027 schedule has not been completed, but CBS Sports reported that Michigan is not expected to have a Tour stop for the first time since the Buick Open ended after 2009.
Detroit Golf Club’s North Course is getting one last PGA Tour spotlight after a $16 million renovation following last year’s event. The course now plays as a 7,328-yard par 70, with the seventh and 17th holes changed from par 5s to long par 4s measuring 505 and 537 yards.
What are the Rocket Classic odds?
Young’s +1000 price is the shortest pre-tournament number of his PGA Tour career, according to CBS Sports. The site noted that his only previous start as a favorite came at the 2023 3M Open, when he was +1400 and missed the cut.
Young’s previous shortest outright price was +1200 at this year’s Cadillac Championship at Doral, an event he won for one of his two 2026 victories. He also has history in Detroit: he finished second to Tony Finau by five shots in 2022 and tied for sixth in 2024.
Young enters after a runner-up finish at the British Open, his fifth top-three result of the season. CBS Sports listed that as the third-most on Tour.
Schauffele is also part of the betting mix. CBS Sports listed Young at +108 for a top-10 finish and Schauffele at +162 in that market, while noting Schauffele has five top-10 finishes this year but no win.
Who else is drawing attention in Detroit?
Jackson Koivun arrives fresh off winning the 3M Open in Minnesota. CBS Sports reported that the 21-year-old won in only his third professional PGA Tour start and 13th Tour start overall, beating a field that included world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
Koivun was 21 years and 2 days old when he won, making him the 16th-youngest winner in PGA Tour history, according to CBS Sports. He is +2300 to win again in Detroit, a result that would make him the fourth-youngest player in the past 40 years to claim a second PGA Tour title, behind Tom Kim, Nick Dunlap and Tiger Woods.
Defending champion Aldrich Potgieter is priced much longer at +10500. The South African won last year’s Rocket Classic at age 20 on the fifth playoff hole against Max Greyserman and Chris Kirk, a victory CBS Sports said helped him earn Rookie of the Year honors.
Potgieter led last year’s Rocket Classic field in driving distance and leads the Tour in that category again at 330.0 yards, according to CBS Sports. His season has still been uneven, with nine missed cuts and two top-10 finishes.
No player has repeated as Rocket Classic champion. Cam Davis is the only two-time winner, taking the title in 2021 and 2024, while Taylor Moore is the only player with three top-10 finishes in the event’s history, according to CBS Sports.
A playoff is another live angle. CBS Sports listed +350 odds for the tournament to go beyond 72 holes and noted that three of the past five Rocket Classics have needed extra holes.
