SportsLine says its MLB model likes Chicago over Detroit and has a three-leg parlay priced above +800 for Tuesday’s 15-game slate.

SportsLine’s computer model has circled the Chicago Cubs as its publicly revealed MLB pick for Tuesday, backing them at -119 against the Detroit Tigers on a full 15-game schedule.
CBS Sports’ Daniel Lewis reported that the model ran each Tuesday matchup 10,000 times before landing on its card. SportsLine said the three-pick parlay tied to those projections would pay more than +800 if all legs hit, though two of the selections are available only through SportsLine.
The post-All-Star break grind is already getting spicy. Tuesday’s slate begins at 6:40 p.m. ET and arrives with the Aug. 3 trade deadline closing in, a stretch that can push clubs toward buying, selling or sweating every inning.
Cubs get the model’s nod
The model’s revealed play is Chicago over Detroit, according to SportsLine. The Tigers took the opener of the series, but the model still gives the edge to the Cubs, who were listed at 56-44 compared with Detroit’s 47-53 mark.
SportsLine projects Chicago to win 4.9 to 4.2 and says the Cubs came out on top in 63% of its simulations.
Detroit is scheduled to start Framber Valdez, according to the report. SportsLine noted that the Tigers are 8-11 in his starts this season and that money-line bettors backing Detroit in those outings are down $337.
The Tigers were described by CBS Sports as likely sellers as the deadline approaches. That matters on a board where roster direction can become part of the betting conversation, especially with teams weighing playoff hopes against trade value.
Other odds on the board
SportsLine highlighted several prices from Tuesday’s MLB odds menu. The Phillies were listed at -125 against the Dodgers, the Yankees at -138 against the Pirates and the Braves at -147 against the Padres.
The betting model’s broader pitch rests on its recent record. SportsLine said it entered Week 18 of the MLB season on a 35-21 run with top-rated MLB selections. It also said its 2025 home run prop picks produced nearly 30 units in profit.
The full three-leg parlay was not disclosed in the public write-up. SportsLine said the remaining two legs are underdog plays and that the combined ticket climbs above +800.
For now, the one pick on display is the Cubs. The rest of Tuesday’s betting card stays behind the curtain at SportsLine, with a packed night of baseball and the trade deadline clock ticking in the background.
