The Lindsay Clancy trial opened Monday in Plymouth Superior Court, where the 35-year-old Massachusetts mother is accused of murdering her three young children inside the family’s Duxbury home in 2023.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. Prosecutors say the children were killed with exercise bands on Jan. 24, 2023.
Court was called into session just before 9:30 a.m., according to CBS News Boston. Judge William Sullivan called the case and immediately summoned attorneys to a sidebar.

Prosecutors allege Clancy created the opportunity to kill the children by sending her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, out to pick up takeout food and medications. They say that errand gave her time alone inside the home.
Clancy was paralyzed after attempting to take her own life that night, CBS News Boston reported. She attends court proceedings in a wheelchair.

Patrick Clancy, who was married to Lindsay Clancy at the time the children died, is expected to be the first witness after opening statements. CBS News Boston reported that the couple is now divorced and that Patrick Clancy has remarried.
Judge Sullivan on Friday approved Patrick Clancy’s request to keep media access restricted to his 911 call and photos of the children after their deaths, according to CBS News Boston. The jury will still see the photos and hear the call during trial.
